What is Youth Shaped Scouting?
Youth Shaped Scouting is the idea that Scouting is a Youth Movement and should be shaped by the Young People. Adults should only be here to guide the Young people and ensure that they are kept safe. The Young People should have an input into what they do on a weekly basis, where they go on camps and how major decisions are made.
As one Explorer said: “Scouting is like play-doh, Young People have to shape and mould it”
What is a District Youth Commissioner?
The District Youth Commissioner works with the District team to ensure that Scouting within the District is Youth Shaped, and key decisions are made with the perspective of our youth members.
Our District Youth Commissioner is Tim Hill, and he is assisted by his Deputy, Nathan Molloy.
What about YouShape?
YouShape Month is run throughout February, as a time to focus in on getting Young People in Scouting involved in shaping their experience
