New District Youth Commissioner

It is with great pleasure that I would like to announce the appointment of Dave Shaw as our new District Youth Commissioner.

Dave has come to Slough form a strong scouting background having scouted in Bedfordshire and more recently in Wales whilst at university. Dave is currently working with the Explorer Scout section where he is working with the Explorers to make the section more youth shaped.

The role of Youth Commissioner is to enable us as a district to become more youth shaped, that in turn will make our members feel more managed and help us to deliver the Scouting that they want.

Dave will be working very closely with me to enable this to happen and be to voice of the youth members of the district at all levels of decision making for forming a Youth Council to the District Executive, helping us towards the goals of the Scout Association’s Vision 2018.

I know that Dave will be speaking to you all in the near future to discuss his vision for taking youth shaped scouting forward in Slough Scouting.
